Trump's Take on Three Key Issues for Businesses

The volatility of the now (thankfully) concluded presidential election could segue into big changes for landscape companies if Donald Trump is able to make good on some of his campaign promises.

Among those will probably be the end of Obamacare as we know it. Though many businesses will welcome the repeal of the Affordable Care Act as Trump has said he will do, there is no clear idea of what type of mandated system, if any, will replace it (some Republicans and Trump have voiced support for a replacement plan) and what the potential effects on companies' and their employees' bottom lines will be.

All the anti-immigration rhetoric throughout the campaign has also left uncertainties in the business community. Trump vowed he would overturn the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, and the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents, which allow hundreds of thousands of immigrants to temporarily stay and work in the U.S. This could disrupt workforces throughout the industry but no one knows how quickly enforcement would take place or how effective it would be. Also the question arises as to if those immigrants would immediately become ineligible to legally work in this country.

A big boon for companies large and small would be realized if President-elect Trump gets the tax plan he outlined passed. It would cut the business tax rate from 35 percent to 15 percent and eliminate the corporate alternative minimum tax.
