Happy Thanksgiving from LASN
by Rebecca Radtke, LASN

Happy Thanksgiving.

People envision traditional Thanksgiving filled with turkey, potatoes, pumpkin pie, cranberries, and sweet potatoes. While that may vary from family-to-family and from location-to-location, one thing is certain, thanksgiving requires a lot of cultivation.

A Couple of Facts About the Holiday
Thanksgiving became a holiday after the popular magazine, Godey's Lady's Book in the mid-19th century campaigned for the holiday to promote unity and in 1863, President Abraham Lincoln made it official.
Further, the holiday was annually proclaimed by every president thereafter and the date was chosen as the last Thursday in November, with a few exceptions.

With that, the holiday has now become an occasion for families to get together including a very American activities like Thanksgiving Day football games (which were kicked off with the first game featuring Yale vs. Princeton in 1876), the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (which first began in 1924), and Turkey Trots.

But the November holiday is much more than that. After the turkey is pardoned and while the parade heads through New York, LASN would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving filled with family and good food.
