The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is seeking qualified applicants to fill expected vacancies on the Board of Directors for a term from 2023-2026. Their board is a collection of 15-30 individuals who provide strategic leadership and governance for the association. The NRPA is encouraging candidates with expertise in Information Technology, Grant Making, American with Disabilities Act (ADA)/Accessibility/Adaptation, Education, or those who are Innovative Young Professionals and geographically located in the Midwest or Northeast to apply. According to the NRPA, "The Board-CEO relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the board is both critical and expected." Kristine Stratton is the current CEO and president.

As a landscape architect, an understanding of the NRPA's governance structure and mission is important. NRPA's Board of Directors advances the association's mission and provides strategic leadership, governance, and fiduciary oversight. The NRPA membership includes professional and advocate leaders in the park and recreation movement, park and recreation agencies and organizations, firms supplying park and recreation products and services, and individuals and civic groups engaged in the park, recreation, conservation, equity and inclusion, and health fields.

This may be an opportunity for individuals who are an information technology or research professional with experience conducting and interpreting data analysis and/or research, or a grant maker with a strong philanthropic background. Additionally, if you are an experienced professional with a strong understanding of ADA/accessibility law, best practices, and trends in adaptation, or an education professional working in a collegiate setting in the area of recreation and parks, public health, sustainability, or a related field, you are encouraged to apply.
