The department of landscape architecture at Cornell University in New York received a gift from alumnus Steven E. Lefton PLA, BSLA '94, which establishes the "Professor Marvin I. Adleman Fund for Practical Experiential Learning" at the university. This gift will fund student experiential learning activities such as student field trips, departmental lecture series, internships, and others deemed worth by the faculty. Lefton wanted the donation to provide maximum flexibility for the college, so he allowed the administration to spearhead the decisions and choose which activities received funding. The Cornell news post on the matter provides this background information about Lefton, "Lefton graduated with a BSLA from the program in 1994 and began a successful career in professional practice. He has been with Kimley-Horn, a multi-disciplinary engineering, planning, and design firm, for the past 22 years and has risen through the ranks to become President and CEO of the company."To read the full news release, visit the Cornell news post HERE.
