In their statement, the Institute of Transportation Engineers explained that vehicle-to-everything technology will improve transportation safety and save lives.

On December 14, the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) issued a statement to industry stakeholders that pushed for progress towards deploying vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technologies. The statement was jointly signed by nine other associations including the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).

The statement described V2X as technology that creates a connection between vehicles, infrastructure, pedestrians, bicyclists, and other road uses to communicate with each other. The associations' goal with V2X is to reduce transportation related crashes and fatalities as this technology would provide drivers with real time safety warnings.
In the statement, the ITE explained the timing behind the push for V2X deployment, "We believe that 2023 will be a pivotal year for V2X deployment. Transportation stakeholders have aligned behind one V2X technology, cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X), clearing the way for a unified, nationwide approach to the deployment of this tool. The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) recently held a V2X Summit in which it committed to the development of a Nationwide V2X Deployment Plan, lending crucial leadership to the deployment of these technologies."
