The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) is promoting the swift passage of fiscal year 2024 transportation appropriations bills. AASHTO, representing state departments of transportation, stresses the importance of avoiding funding disruptions to maintain steady investments in the national transportation system. In July, the House Committee on Appropriations approved a FY 2024 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD) funding bill, reducing funding by over 8.7% from the Biden Administration's request.
