This topics covers why complying with OSHA and CalOSHA standards is in everyone's best interest. The Value of Training Groundskeepers and Supervisors in Occupational Safety and Health. This topic gives an overview of the recent training conducted by the Southern California Education and Research Center at UCLA under a grant from OSHA. In the year ending September 30, 2007 approximately 650 groundskeepers, supervisors and business owners were trained in Preventing Injury and Illness of Groundskeepers. The program is described and evaluations reviewed.

Cass Ben-Levi has been Director of Continuing Education/Outreach for the Southern California Education and Research Center at UCLA and UC Irvine since 2004. Prior to that, she was Director of Communications for UCLA's Labor Occupational Safety and Health Program. Before coming to UCLA Ms. Ben-Levi was Director of Community and Government Relations for the Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County and Senior Operations Analyst for the City of Santa Monica. She was also a consultant for the Planning, Evaluation and Research Branch of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
