New Program Offered for Landscape Industry

PITTSBURGH, PA

A new initiative at The Pennsylvania State University--The Center for Watershed Stewardship-- is now available for landscape architectural practitioners and students. Professionals can learn how to develop and implement interdisciplinary team-based solutions to complex water resource issues within a watershed framework. An interdisciplinary graduate-level curriculum in watershed stewardship is offered through a collaborative effort between the Department of Landscape Architecture and the School of Forest Resources. The Center will also offer continuing education short courses and seminars for practicing Registered Landscape Architects and community leaders on a variety of watershed topics, beginning in the Spring of 1999. Kerry L. Wedel, Director of The Center for Watershed Stewardship, believes that, "The Center can benefit practicing Landscape Architects by providing continuing education opportunities in water resource related topics. This training can assist Landscape Architects in addressing projects that involve various water resource planning and management aspects."
