Sacramento Airport, Sacramento, CA

Above: Originally completed in 1967, the Sacramento International Airport, located in California's Central Valley, serves as a gateway to Northern California. vTA was responsible for the landscape design of the new passenger terminal and exterior areas of the project including the "Great Meadow" which will be viewed through the terminal's five story atrium and greet visitors with expansive views towards downtown Sacramento and the Central Valley beyond. The design visually incorporated the rich agricultural history of the Sacramento region with the use of orchards and crop rows and uniting it with that native oak grasslands dotted with boulders. Plant species were selected for their drought and wind tolerant attributes.

Terrene Parks, Brentwood, CA

Left: The park network at the Terrene Community in Brentwood, California, consists of four neighborhood parks with a variety of uses. The parks serve as connection points to the bike trail system and neighboring communities. Dragonfly and Hummingbird parks provide intimate areas for picnics and play. Sycamore and Live Oak parks create spaces with open turf, picnic tables, basketball court, bocce court, exercise stations, and large play structures. A vibrant planting scheme presents interest, while naturalized and native planting is found adjacent to the water quality basins.

The Westin Verasa,
Napa, CA

Above: The West Verasa luxury hotel is located adjacent to the Napa River. The exterior landscape is primarily on a podium over the hotel's underground parking garage. The landscape amenities are located in three distinct courtyards, each featuring a different theme. The main courtyard includes a lap pool, spa, and dining terrace. The north courtyard was designed for gatherings such as business functions or weddings, while the south courtyard features a grand lawn with palm trees and two bocce-ball courts.

Waterline,
Point Richmond, CA

Right: Waterline is a 60-unit development consisting of attached 2 and 3-story luxury condominiums nestled in the neighborhood of Point Richmond. This community is located on a coveted piece of property that has spectacular views across the bay to the San Francisco & Oakland skylines. It also provides shoreline access though a newly complete section of Bay Trail system. The stormwater treatment on this site is being handled through a riparian corridor that bisects the site and creates a natural environment. The site's California native and adaptive plantings were selected for their ability to thrive in these San Francisco Bay front conditions.
