Two New U.S. Bicycle Routes Approved by AASHTO




Michigan's U.S. Bicycle Route 35 runs nearly 500 miles from New Buffalo, Michigan, (on the border with Indiana) to Sault Ste Marie, Canada. Once complete it will continue south through Indiana and down to Mississippi.

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) approved two new U.S. Bicycle Routes (USBR) during National Bike Month (May). The new routes include USBR 35 in Michigan and USBR 45 in Minnesota along with the realignment for USBR 1 in North Carolina.

John Horsley, Executive Director of AASHTO said, ''We are pleased that the collaboration with Adventure Cycling has resulted in the approval of these bicycle routes and we look forward to continuing the implementation of the national corridor plan.''
