Recently, Transportation Enhancement (TE) program and other transportation programs that create pedestrian and bicycle paths and other transportation options for our communities have been under attack. Pedestrian and bicycle paths help families save money by spending less on automobile fuel; reduce congestion; reduce harmful carbon emissions.

TE projects also include landscape projects which provide a cost-efficient methods for communities to effectively deal with stormwater management, runoff pollution and other environmental mitigation issues.

The amendment offered by Senator Tom Coburn (OK) that proposed allowing states to eliminate funding for TE program failed by a vote of 39-59. - Courtesy of AASHTO
