Rolling Meadows, IL ?EUR??,,????'??? According to Stan Gardner, president of Turfgrass Producers International (TPI), water could be the greatest single issue facing turfgrass sod producers in 2003. In his annual state of the industry report released in January, Gardner provided industry perspectives and predictions. ?EUR??,,????'??The water issue is the biggest thing on the radar screen right now and includes everything from shortages to quality to storm water runoff,?EUR??,,????'?? Gardner said. Furthermore, the TPI president predicts water will become an increasing factor impacting the economic health and sales of turfgrass, especially for the rapidly growing Western regions of the United States. Reduced water supplies also impact new home lot sizes and therefore overall landscaping and maintenance opportunities. Gardner also projects 2003 will look and feel a lot like 2002 based on ongoing volatility of the financial markets from around the world and the uncertainty over the situation in Iraq.
