The Playgrounds Issue of Landscape Architect and Specifier News saw many firms submit their projects for feature consideration. Among several great projects, we at LandscapeArchitect.com thought these three parks deserved to be showcased online.

Doornbos Park - Nederland, Texas
Installed October 2023: 3955 square feet at 4' & 8' CFH, 100% Premium Colors with Aliphatic binder. Designs include 3 color changes of 5 large bands of color, butterflies in various sizes and colors. Colors and designs as specified by Kraftsman were all installed accordingly with great attention to the details.

 

Fun Island Park - Port Arthur, Texas
Installed September 2023: 6068 square feet at 8' CFH, 75/25 TPV Premium Colors with Aliphatic binder. Designs include shark, stingray, octopus, and TTA pads done in boulder shapes, all custom designed for the overall layout. Colors and designs as specified by Kraftsman were all installed accordingly with great attention to the details.

McMullen County Park - Tilden, Texas
Installed March 2025: 3011 square feet at 8' CFH, 100% Premium Colors with Aliphatic binder. Designs include rope design throughout the pad, deer, bird, horseshoe tracks and cactus designs. Design on playground carried through to the adjacent splash pad. Lead installer did an amazing job on the design, as the rope was all hand drawn. Colors and designs as specified by Kraftsman were all installed accordingly with great attention to the details and design carried over to the splash pad that was painted concrete.
