The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration announced that Everglades National Park, Natchez Trace Parkway, and Yellowstone National Park will receive a total of $123,572,000 in funding from the Nationally Federal Lands and Tribal Project (NSFLTP) Program. The NSFLTP Program, established under the Fix America's Surface Transportation (FAST) Act, aims to address projects within or adjacent to federal and tribal lands. Funds will be used to repair bridges, restore sections of the parks, and reconstruct roads. The program provides discretionary funding for projects that exceed $25 million but requires projects to have 10% of the costs matched by funds not provided under USDOT programs. National Park Service Deputy Director P. Daniel Smith stated, "These grants will help modernize our aging transportation infrastructure, address a significant amount of our maintenance backlog, and improve overall visitor experience and access to our national parks."
