The International Parking Institute invites both undergraduate and graduate students to submit their next big idea in parking. The aim of the Parking Solutions Competition is to find an innovative new way to reduce the use of single-occupant vehicles by maximizing land use, increasing mobility options, and decreasing congestion, emissions, and pollution.

Parking is a part of the mobility equation, as parking and public transportation are connected: one cannot be planned, implemented, and managed without the other. The urban landscape is changing, and with it, mobility. The International Parking Institute hopes, through the challenge, to implement viable mobility solutions.

Undergraduate and graduate students who are actively pursuing their degrees and are at least 18 are eligible to enter. Students can enter independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.

To enter, students must submit a brief narrative of their idea and a mobile application, website or online service, plans/drawings/graphics, 3-D models/animation, or a video to accompany it. Submissions are due by February 15, 2017.

Four finalists will receive round-trip airfare and a two-night hotel stay in New Orleans as well as free registration to the IPI Conference & Expo, held May 21-24. They will also receive a complimentary student membership. From those four finalists, one winner will be chosen to receive $500, a feature on parking.org, and more.
