The park-in-a-week transformation will be completed through the joint efforts of residents, local groups, park staff, contractors, and Starbucks staff.

The underdeveloped 5.57 acre park is a central meeting place for the community, including nearby housing developments, elementary schools and boys & girls clubs. Both local residents and Starbucks employees are thrilled.

“We look at parks as [gathering places],?EUR??,,????'?? said Cosimo LaPorta, Vice President of Pacific Northwest Operations. ?EUR??,,????'??Places that mirror the character of the community, where people can reflect, reenergize and play . . . Construction, a volunteer event, will begin in June after several community meetings about which changes are to be made. Improvements could include a new playground, major landscaping and structural improvements.

The Starbucks Neighborhood Parks Program was created in 2000. Since its inception, the Starbucks Neighborhood Parks Program has provided $2.4 million in funding to help protect and revitalize over 104 park projects in the Puget Sound area.
