Project managers in architecture, engineering, and environmental consulting firms earned a median of $100,000 last year, according to ZweigWhite’s 2007 Project Management Survey of Architecture, Engineering, Planning & Environmental Consulting Firms. The earnings are based on ?EUR??,,????'?????<?total compensation?EUR??,,????'?????<??EUR??,,????'?????<??oesalary, plus bonus, plus overtime.
The survey data revealed that close to three-quarters of project managers received a bonus last year?EUR??,,????'?????<??oethe median is $5,000, while only 14 percent were entitled to overtime pay. PMs typically work a 46-hour week, typically managing eight projects at a time. PMs devote most of their time to project management (an average of 45 percent) or design or technical activities (an average of 31 percent).
Most project managers have a bachelor’s degree (79 percent) and are registered technical professionals (85 percent). The majority have at least 15 years of experience in the design and environmental consulting industry. Only 37 percent of PMs are owners in their firms, although half believe they are at least ?EUR??,,????'?????<?reasonably likely?EUR??,,????'?????<? to become owners.
