Years in Profession: 37 Member of ASLA since: 1971 ASLA Chapter: Ohio Category: Knowledge "In the mid-1970s, while teaching courses with lots of numerical problem solving, I became interested in using computers for instruction because I was Lazy and tired of making up a gazillion problems for my students to practice. (I was also embarrassed when I worked the test key incorrectly and marked correct student answers as wrong). I thought that if I ever "got it right," my computer program could give students true facts and let them take their time working mathematical problems that would always be scored correctly. I believed a computer program, prepared carefully and thoughtfully, might even be better than a live professor (gasp!) for some kinds of instruction. I still believe this over 20 years later. I'm still trying to get it right."
