Playground Webinar Available OnDemand by Staff
On July 13th, Cal Poly SLO Associate Professor, David Watts presented a live and recorded webinar titled "Playground Design for Resilience" which focused on playground design theory, play history, and how playgrounds can aid in white brain matter and lowering stress across one?EUR(TM)s life. Watts explained that two important movements were vital to the playground industry-sandgartens and physical fitness. These two moments changed the trajectory of the landscape architecture?EUR(TM)s role in play design. He went on to explain that play has a positive impact on stress in children and brain plasticity. While children spend more time indoors, studies continue to show that outdoor play, including unstructured play, can help combat stress, anxiety, ADHD, etc.
