According to Borough Administrator Sean Canning, the borough awarded D'Onofrio & Son a $34,813 bid, which would take care of the landscaping needs throughout the community. Canning said this bid came under the borough's original bid projection.
The outsourcing will help to free up money in the borough, which Canning said could be reallocated to help hire additional people needed in the Department of Public Works (DPW) and save on equipment costs. The DPW currently takes care of the borough's landscaping needs.
Council President Louis Pepe said that the outsourcing is another "win-win" scenario for the borough.
