ON THE BOARDWALK Constituting the final phase of the Epcot Resorts master plan, Disney's BoardWalk- a waterfront village designed by Robert A.M. Stern to combine an exciting new entertainment with the BoardWalk Inn and BoardWalk -- Villas- recaptures the charm and flavor of the 1930's Mid-Atlantic coast. Landscape S, Architects at EDAW, Inc. helped design the resort situated on 45 acres along Crescent Lake that includes private courtyards and manicured gardens, a 20,000-square-foot conference center with outdoor gazebos and pavilions, a miniature carousel and a children's activity center. The BoardWalk resort also features a unique children's underwater play area, designed by Disney's "imagineers" as a 1,700 square-foot "tot-lot" with a circus theme in mind. Graphics incorporated into this project produced a waterpark flooring in three, vibrant colors of cherry red, bright yellow and blue, which are covered with an inch of water running continuously over the surface.
