The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is reviewing applications for vacancies on the Board of Directors set to serve during the 2024-2027 term. The board is composed of between 15 and 30 individuals with professional experience across a variety of specialties and disciplines within parks and recreation.

 

Unfortunately, landscape architects are not depicted in a particularly important light on NRPA's board. While governance offers a variety of specialties including certified accountants, practicing public health professionals, data analytics professionals, and senior advocates, the board currently does not include a landscape architect but does prioritize candidates in these categories and "Certified Landscape Professional" but does not emphasize landscape architects.


Applications were open from April 16th through May 6th and are currently being reviewed through July. LASN encourages the inclusion of landscape architecture on the board to best design parks and park development.
