The funding comes from the American Battlefield Protection Program from the National Park Service.

The National Park Service (NPS) just awarded over one million dollars to preservation partners as a part of its American Battlefield Protection Program. The Preservation Planning Grants were awarded to 14 different sites and will be used to conduct archeological surveys, plan, conduct historical interviews, and complete documentation all in the name of preservation.

"The American Battlefield Protection Program's Preservation Planning Grants fund a diversity of projects that help us better understand and interpret sites of armed conflict on American soil," explained NPS Director Chuck Sams. "Through a community-driven approach, these grants protect these significant places, providing an opportunity for all Americans to explore the impacts of these conflicts on who we are as a nation."
