The National Park Conservation Association recently celebrated its 100th anniversary in Chicago, Illinois. In honor of the anniversary, NPCA, Metra Millennium Station, and the National Park Service hosted 300 attendees with a train ride through the Pullman National Monument, a national park site accessible by commuter rail. The ride was also in celebration of the monument's official designation.

NPCA and American Institute of Architects are executing their vision for "Positioning Pullman", which was a collaborative workshop for the monument held in April 2015. The project focused on four main areas: park experience, historic preservation and adaptive reuse, access and connections, and community development.

Once a historic Chicago neighborhood, the Pullman site became an official designated National Park Service Site in 2015. Since then, Pullman National Monument has received over $100 million dollars in investments for transit, roads, site redevelopment projects, and renovations.

Among the investments is a plan to renovate the historic Clock Tower, establish a visitor center, and enhance the rail station next to the monument. Metra CEO Jim Derwinksi stated, "Today we've announced a commitment to invest in station infrastructure at 111th Street, making it easier for people from all walks of life to visit one of Chicago's truly historic hidden treasures."
