The State of New Mexico introduced Senate Bill 61 which would amend the Landscape Architects Act.

 

This bill would lower the required minimum years of experience for an applicant without a degree from ten to eight years. SB 61 also sets up a clear list of qualifications for registration, which includes the application, graduation from an accredited school, or experience in landscape architectural work that is acceptable to the board.

LASN works to promote health, safety, and welfare as we mark our fortieth year of publication. With that, licensure is the most important element, and we will continue to monitor this bill and others across the country.

This bill was sent to Senate Health and Public Affairs (SHPAC) and then referred to Senate Tax, Business and Transportation (STBTC) on Jan. 22. Then on Feb. 18 it was reported by committee with a passing recommendation.
