The 2008 Energy Master Plan developed to direct New Jersey into a more sustainable, energy efficient future led to a report commissioned by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) and prepared by the Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships, Inc. (NEEP) that explains various strategies and programs to achieve New Jersey's goals to reduce projected energy demand by 20% in 2020. https://tinyurl.com/ybbkh4a2.Among the strategies established to improve the energy status of N.J., one of the most recent actions took place on September 17 when the NJBPU approved the mandate to open an application window for offshore wind capacity for 1.1 GW, which is the largest single-state offshore wind solicitation according to the public utilities board. Developers will be able to submit applications to build offshore wind facilities in federal waters, with an application deadline of December 28. With this order, the state claims it is now on its way to achieving its 2030 goal of 3.5 GW of offshore wind energy production and becoming a clean energy leader in the country.
