The Glow of Bioluminescence

French start-up company Glowee has launched a bioluminescent lighting product to French retailers. Aliivibrio fischeri bacteria power the soft accent lighting, the same bacteria that give the Hawaiian bobtail squid its bluish bioluminescence. Light pollution laws in France forbid retailers from lighting their storefronts between 1-7 a.m. Glowee believes the subtle low-glow of bioluminescence is the answer.
