LEED sustainable design features seamlessly integrated into the building include a significant reduction of water use (by 35%), optimized energy performance that was made possible with solar preheating of outside air during winter months, and exterior window shading which reduces solar heat gain and controls glare. Site disturbance was minimized and the design team encouraged the use of recycled and locally manufactured products on the project.

The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification program administered by the U.S. Green Building Council is a widely adopted standard for sustainable building design. The rating system takes into account building performance in five areas: energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, materials selection, sustainable site development, and water savings.
