Missouri Pesticide Business Fined

Wilber Pest Control, of Harrisonville, Mo. was fined $2,400 for violations of the Missouri Pesticide Use Act. The violations included engaging in the business of using and supervising the use of pesticides without a proper license and making a false or misleading statement misrepresenting the license qualifications of an employee. The Act, which regulates pesticide application and handling, requires certain pesticide applicators and dealers to be licensed and to maintain records of pesticide use and sales. The Act also requires that pesticides be used and disposed of according to label instructions.

MDA ’s Bureau of Pesticide Control became aware of the violations during a routine inspection. A subsequent investigation revealed of the company’s use of misleading license information and the unlicensed pesticide applications in question.

The Bureau of Pesticide Control is a program of the Plant Industries Division of MDA and administers the Missouri Use Pesticide Act and the Missouri Pesticide Registration Act.
