Katherine Rose Memorial Park is one of Mansfield's most beloved and heavily used community spaces, offering over 33 acres of open land woven into a historic pecan orchard with direct access to the Walnut Creek Linear Trail. The park was re-envisioned to highlight its natural setting while expanding inclusive, multi-generational recreation opportunities, all thoughtfully relocated out of the floodway.

Site design began by relocating the playground and restroom building out of the floodway and into the previous parking lot location. The new parking lot was creatively woven through the heritage pecan orchard and behind the playground extending access into the park without disturbing any pecan trees. Signature play towers were strategically positioned in tree canopy openings to rise above the canopy and serve as visual landmarks from surrounding streets. Parkhill collaborated with three play equipment vendors to create a nature-inspired play environment rooted in the site's history, prioritizing accessibility and inclusion for children of all abilities. The play zones provide diverse experiences that encourage exploration, creativity, and physical activity.

Accessible circulation is integrated throughout, featuring over 100 linear feet of ramps connecting multiple activity levels, wheelchair-accessible swings, and inclusive equipment, eliminating traditional segregation by ability. Shaded seating, open sightlines, and a centrally located, fully accessible restroom with family stalls and integrated pavilion support equitable user comfort and community interaction.
