Mandeville Proposes Inspection, Permit Fee Increases

The proposed ordinance in Mandeville is an effort to make the city's building permits and inspection department more self-supporting.

Mandeville, La. has proposed an ordinance that would increase inspection and building permit fees. Inspection fees would jump from $25 to $40, and fees would continue rising for each additional re-inspection, with $80 for the second, $120 for the third and $240 for the fourth. A fifth required inspection would require an applicant in mayor's court.

The ordinance also sets up requirements that contractors must follow to obtain a permit to move or demolish a structure, and sets that fee at $100 plus a $500 street bond. Contractors could also be charged a $1,000 fine plus police costs for every day they block a street or right-of-way.
