Year Two for LSMP

By George Schmok

Wow . . . It is hard to believe that Year Two for LSMP is almost at a close.
It is even more amazing that in a little more than a year’s time, LSMP has grown to become the leading publication for the institutional groundskeeper and has begun to set a trend to rename the professionals serving this great industry.

Are you an institutional groundskeeper? . . . A landscape manager? . . . A landscape management professional? . . . The maintenance guy? . . . The answer of course is “Yes” to all of the above. However, more and more, on Monster and Google and throughout the industry, we are hearing about the ?EUR??,,????'?????<

So what has caused all this commotion?

Well, to begin with, of all the magazines serving the landscape industry, LSMP has the largest circulation to landscape superintendents . . . 50% more than the closest competitor!!! And in 2006 LSMP will be expanding its reach as we continue to define and refine the market.

And while we are talking about expansion, it is worth noting that LSMP will be expanding from 8 issues in 2005 to 10 issues in 2006. That’s right . . . only the May/June issues (which will be the 200+ page Annual Super Guide) and the November/December issue will be combined. On that note we are also looking to expand the editorial content, diversity and prestige in 2006.

As the Editorial staff (who also work on Landscape Architect and Specifier News, the #1 book in that field and Landscape Contractor National, the fastest growing book in that field) gets more and more into the LS groove, we have unearthed several leading specialists who we are recruiting as Associate Editors to help guide the publication and assist the staff in making sure the facts are facts and the topics topical . . .

As these prestigious leaders of the industry come on board, you will read about them in this column and feel their presence throughout the pages.

We are also looking for editorial from you . . . As you win awards for your work or facility, we want to hear from you and work with you to put together articles that both showcase your efforts and teach others how to better serve their facility.

If you have won an award, developed a new way of doing things, or would like to just share your knowledge and bolster the profession, simply send us an e-mail (gschmok@landscapearchitect.com) or give us a call at 714-979-5276 and we will begin the process . . .

LSMP is also leading the way as a product location tool . . . Just turn to page 63 and you will find the beginning of the LSMP Marketplace. This “Mall” of landscape products and services will become your number one source for new and existing products and vendors.

Every ad is placed in its own topical section making it easier for you to find a host of vendors looking to provide you with the tools and chemicals you need to get the job done. And the vendor phone book simply refines that marketplace into a phone book where you look for a product category and can then call the vendors listed . . .

If you can’t find it in the marketplace, you can probably find it at www.landscapearchitect.com. This site has been around since Al Gore invented the web and is the largest landscape-oriented database on the web today. Every advertiser, from all three publications, has a full profile and link to their web site, so finding products and vendors is as easy as remembering landscapearchitect.com . . .

And LSMP is working to bring you even more in 2006. In addition to supporting some 30 odd industry associations, LSMP and its staff will be traveling to at least 15 Trade Shows in 2006 (You may be reading this at EXPO 2005 or the SCTC show) keeping our fingers on the pulse of this great industry and your great profession.

So, whether you are a Landscape Superintendent looking for ways to improve your facility, a groundskeeper looking to improve your professional status, or a vendor trying to reach this yet untapped market, LSMP is working overtime to preserve its hard fought title of ?EUR??,,????'?????<

?EUR??,,????'?????<
