Lighting Ordinances Would Restrict Design Options

The Bandon, Oregon planning commission is considering several amendments to the city?EUR??,,????'???s zoning regulations regarding its outdoor lighting regulations (Dark Sky ordinance). This of great importance to Oregon lighting professionals, as a proposed change in the ordinance would hamstring a popular lighting technique.

On January 26, 2012, the Planning Commission reviewed and set for public hearings on proposed amendments to the city?EUR??,,????'???s zoning code, including outdoor lighting regulations.

The regulations would require that all new exterior lights be ?EUR??,,????'??full cutoff,?EUR??,,????'?? meaning the lights would have to be installed to be shielded and shine downward and not upward. These regulations would apply to new light installations, but would not require removing existing legally installed lights.
