Brighter lights now illuminate Canada's largest city. A strong desire to retrofit and redesign lighting aesthetics, while reducing energy electricity, was the driving force behind Toronto's decision to replace 75% of its incandescent lighting system with 36,000 new, acorn-shaped metal halide fixtures. The city's Director of Operations Wayne Jackson confirms that Toronto has slashed electricity consumption by 30 million kilowatts (and will save $30 million over twenty years!)
