After all, A few new things here at LCN . . . I don?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?t know about you guys, but we here at LCN have had a busy summer . . . OK besides me taking a three-week vacation . . . driving more than 6,600 miles with the wife and three kids from L.A. through Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, North Dakota, South Dakota and back through Wyoming, Utah, Arizona and Nevada . . . we actually got quite a bit of work in as well . . . For one thing, LCN, which is the only landscape publication that focuses on the installation contractor and the installation work across the country, began working with the Southern California Turfgrass Council (SCTC) in putting together the Western Landscape and Equipment Expo. This 46-year-old trade show, held at the Pomona Fairplex (Just outside of Los Angeles) will take place November 1st and 2nd. Known for years as simply the SCTC Show, the event has taken on even greater importance with the cancellation in 2007 of the GIE Show as it merged with the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s ?EUR??,,????'?????<?EXPO 2007.?EUR??,,????'?????<? As the SCTC Show is one of the longest-running trade shows, of any industry in the nation, look to this show as one of the primary events for Landscape Contractors and Lawn Care Professionals to see new products, new equipment and learn new techniques in making your business successful. You can check out landscapearchitect.com to see the growing list of seminars and exhibitors . . . Of course, we hope to see you there . . . And speaking of new products . . . LCN has added a new staff position called ?EUR??,,????'?????<?The Product Guy?EUR??,,????'?????<? . . . Kevin Burrows, a young Pittsburgh Steelers fan (who better to test the heavy equipment. . .) has taken the position and will be traveling the trade show circuit visiting vendors to push the levers and turn the wheels on loaders, mowers, blowers and just about any piece of equipment that runs with an engine and makes a lot of noise . . . OK . . . He?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?ll also be reviewing lights and pond pumping systems too, but only those that either make you squint or push enough water so you could ride a kayak ;-) You?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?ll be able to see Kevin at the afore mentioned EXPO 2006, at the GIE Show and the SCTC Show . . . He?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?ll be the guy with all the groupies and paparazzi around a pair of shoes sticking out from under the Bobcat . . . LCN has added an additional editorial staffer to cover and put more of a focus on the people of the industry . . . Michelle Ryan comes to us with a nose for who?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s who out there and she will be working with long-time LCN?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?er Leslie McGuire to add a more personal touch to the pages of this fine publication . . . Leslie has also been working on beefing up the editorial advisory staff for LCN (We call them Associate Editors) and putting together the seminar speakers at the SCTC Show. Of course we can always use more advice and she would love to hear from you if you know of someone we should talk to about improving the content of the publication and/or the show . . .
