BMLA Landscape Architecture, a Southern California-based landscape architecture firm, has promoted landscape designer Andrew Neubauer to director of design. A designer with more than 10 years of experience, he has also worked at Collaborative West. Neubauer earned his bachelors of landscape architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and has been a valued member of the BMLA team since 2008. Neubauer will guide the vision of the design and assist the executive team with business development.
BioSafe Systems recently hired a new team member to focus primarily on new product development, including vendor relations. Melissa Carserino comes to BioSafe from Chemtura Corp., where she worked as a Technical Sales Service Engineer and Product and Market Analyst. Carserino graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in chemical engineering and then obtained a master's in business administration from Rensselaer Poly Tech University. She is currently enrolled in the project manager professional program. Jeff Rich will take over the Texas territory for BioSafe Systems turf and ornamental sales team. He has been with the company since 2012 working in Florida and the Gulf States. With his great successes, BioSafe has expanded his sales territory into Texas where Rich will be involved in establishing a position in the commercial greenhouse and nursery industry.
Floura Teeter Landscape Architects promoted Sara Goins to marketing manager. She joined the firm in 2013 as marketing coordinator and has been an integral part of the firm's business development team. In her new role Goins will lead business development efforts and manage marketing for the firm, including monitoring and tracking project opportunities and performing market research. A 2008 graduate of Loyola University, Goins holds a bachelor's degree in business administration (concentration in marketing).
Cre8Play announced that industry veteran Danny Byrd has joined the Cre8Gang to lead the team in design innovation. He holds six patents and brings enthusiasm and a wealth of industry knowledge to the company. Byrd has built product for themed restaurants, museums, malls, and theme parks including Bush Gardens and Paramount Parks. "Danny is a big-thinker creative type and shares our passion which is to break the mold of the traditional playground," said Todd Lehman, owner and Design Guy for Cre8Play. "We are thrilled to have him on board."
Landscape architect Gary Sorge, FASLA, has been promoted to discipline leader for landscape architecture for North American design firm Stantec. In this new role, Sorge will continue to develop, implement, and promote the landscape architecture practice across Stantec's 250 offices and with the firm's existing and new clients. With nearly 30 years of landscape architecture experience, Sorge has led a wide range of public and private sector improvement projects. Boston-based design visualization expert Chuck Lounsberry has been selected as one of New England's Top Young Professionals in 2015 by industry authority Engineering News Record magazine. A senior associate and landscape architect at Stantec, Lounsberry is one of 10 professionals selected for the honor, which highlights New England's most accomplished professionals under the age of 40. Lounsberry, 38, leads Stantec's design visualization team, which provides photo realistic renderings, 3D modeling, animations and other visuals that bring words and concepts to life.
ValleyCrest Design Group, one of the nation's leading landscape architecture practices, strengthened its Irvine, Calif. office with the promotion of Mark Lenning to principal. Since joining the firm, he has applied his experience in design management, project programming, and design guidelines on high-end projects to broaden the firm's skillset. Recently, Lenning has led the practice's master planning and design efforts for the Newhall Land & Farming Companies Mission Village in Santa Clarita.
National Association of Landscape Professionals (formerly PLANET) recently announced Jeremy Thorne as the recipient of the inaugural Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The award was presented March 15 during the annual National Collegiate Landscape Competition (formerly Student Career Days), hosted by North Carolina State University. The award is designed to recognize an entrepreneur age 30 or under who has demonstrated spirit and initiative, and serves as an example to students pursuing a landscape industry career. Thorne graduated from Pennsylvania College of Technology in 2013 with two degrees in landscape/horticulture technology.
NALP announced that Scott Jamieson, landscape industry certified, was inducted as president of the board of directors, effective May 1. Jamieson is vice president with Bartlett Tree Experts. He leads Bartlett's national recruiting and corporate partnerships efforts and also heads the Bartlett Inventory Solutions team in providing innovative and technologically advanced tree management plans to clients across the country. He received a bachelor of science in urban forestry from Purdue University, where he has been honored as a distinguished alumni.
NALP also appointed Scott Lindley as vice president of sales and marketing. Most recently, Lindley was president of The Lindley Group, a consulting firm specializing in meetings, marketing, sales and management services to the association community. He has been selected to expand the association's strategic approach to business development and to create new platforms for revenue growth. Lindley has more than 20 years of experience in the association and meeting management fields and has also held senior positions in the association supplier community.
Firma Design Group announced that Scott Graefen, senior landscape architect, has joined the firm. Graefen has over 20 years of experience and has worked on both public projects (schools and universities, streetscapes, fire stations, park and recreation facilities, plazas, community buildings and water front projects) as well as private projects (housing developments, medical facilities, hospitals and wineries) throughout California.
Village Nurseries Wholesale, an Orange County, Calif.-based specialty grower for landscape professionals, announced that Kevin Jasinski has joined the team as customer resource manager and inside sales manager. In the newly-created position, Jasinski's main duties will be managing the customer service team and all administrative activities of inside sales and customer support. In addition, he will provide sales support to the outside sales representatives with an emphasis and main focus on outside retail sales, contractor sales and landscape centers.
