Glad Tidings of Comfort and Joy

By George Schmok

Sung to the tune of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

God rest ye men and women
of the landscape industry
Another year is yet behind,
a year of history
We?EUR??,,????'???ve grown a lot, we?EUR??,,????'???ve changed a lot,
oh it is plain to see
Glad tidings of comfort and joy,
comfort and joy
Glad tidings of comfort and joy . . .

The year has been a busy one,
so much to do and see
With projects coming left and right
and not much time to breathe
You?EUR??,,????'???ve worked so hard to just keep up
and set the landscape free
Ooohhh tidings of comfort and joy,
comfort and joy
Ooohhh tidings of comfort and joy . . .

And so it was in finding help,
the numbers just weren?EUR??,,????'???t there
With H2B and student fairs,
good help was still quite rare
You barely had enough good hands
with which the work to share
Glad tidings of midnight oil?EUR??,,????'???s flare,
we were there
Glad tidings of midnight oil?EUR??,,????'???s flare . . .

But all was good, you flourished so,
and built the landscape scene
From Hollywood to Lauderdale,
you made the world more green
And so many love your work,
on you they?EUR??,,????'???re going to lean
Oh, the world needs you more than ever now,
ever now
Oh, the world needs you more than ever now . . .

What of the world, will it hold true,
and keep our children?EUR??,,????'???s fate
From falling in the hands of those
who knock on terror?EUR??,,????'???s gate
I believe we?EUR??,,????'???re doing well,
but yes, there?EUR??,,????'???s some debate
Oh the time is right for standing side by side,
side by side
Oh the time is right for standing side by side . . .

But let?EUR??,,????'???s be real, there were some times,
when nature bore its head
The winds they blew, and fires raged,
and filled us all with dread
The power of its mighty force
that left so many dead
Oh, sad tidings of nature and its woe,
nature?EUR??,,????'???s woe
Oh, sad tidings of nature and its woe . . .

And some of those who left us here
will be remembered long
The great ones always seem to go,
yet leave us with a song
A tune of hope and gratitude
of rightness over wrong
Let?EUR??,,????'???s remember the ones who led the way,
we?EUR??,,????'???ll not stray
Let?EUR??,,????'???s remember the ones who led the way . . .

So yes, we?EUR??,,????'???ll push ahead again,
next year looks fairly bright
Though interest rates and bubble breaks
are stirring up some fright
Things may slow down, but I think not,
yes things will be all right
For the landscape and population grows,
and they grow
For the landscape and population grows . . .

One question on the forefront though,
will be a telling tale
Will concrete, steel, and wood and oil
send prices all to hale
The good news is we?EUR??,,????'???ve got the bounce,
this country will not fail
So, go out there and plan the soil well,
plan it well
Yes, go out there and plan the soil well.

I guess it?EUR??,,????'???s time to move past ?EUR??,,????'??5?EUR??,,????'??,

good luck and fortune all
For ?EUR??,,????'??O?EUR??,,????'?? ?EUR??,,????'??O?EUR??,,????'?? 6 is coming soon,
the order will be tall
So, back to work, and onward march,
you?EUR??,,????'???re going to have a ball
For next year will be good for one and all, one and all
For the next year will be good for one and all . . .

God Bless, Merry Christmas,
Happy Holidays and see you next year!!!

?EUR??,,????'??+God Bless
