    Downtown Cincinnati's Phyllis W. Smale Riverfront Park is the largest in a series of open spaces around the Ohio River. Recent site construction includes a new event lawn and performance space, 1,000 feet of riverfront promenade and several interactive fountains illuminated by LEDs.

    An expansion of Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, included a six-acre park and a children's garden that serve as therapeutic spaces for three pediatric research facilities and a new 12-story in-patient tower. An expanded lighting palette features energy-efficient fixtures that change colors

  • Kissimmee Lakefront Park

    The heart of Kissimmee, Fla., Lakefront Park is Ruby Plaza, which is connected by the wide brick promenade that runs along the shores of Lake Tohopekaliga. The specialty light columns have RGBW color changing 30-watt LEDs, with 70-watt T6 metal halides for the top light. Tall sabal palmettos, the state tree of Florida and South Carolina, are ubiquitous throughout the park.

    A 2013 redesign of this Omaha home required an overhaul of the landscape lighting. The new landscape included a new paver driveway, a pondless water feature and a number of new plantings in the front and back yards.

    Built in 1825, the Governor Thomas Bennett House is noted for its ornamentation plasterwork, and free-flying staircase. The home was beautifully restored, but the outdoor lighting in great need of attention.

    Candles have graced human living space for generations, casting their warm, soothing glow and special ambiance. One designer is replicating that warm glow with low-voltage lamps in candle-like fixtures and other artistic modes.

  • Ford Park, Vail, Colorado
    "?uLandscape Architect/Lead Consultant, Logan Simpson Design, Fort Collins, Colo., Jana McKenzie and Kurt Friesen
    The town of Vail hired the Logan Simpson Design team to prepare a park master plan to focus on the arrival experience, resolve conflicts between user groups and develop improved parking.
