Irrigation industry professional Mauricio Troche has been promoted to national sales and marketing director of Netafim USA Landscape and Turf Division.++ Troche has more than 20 years of experience working in the landscape irrigation industry and will oversee a nationwide staff of regional sales managers. He will direct all landscape and turf sales activities, interacting with distributorships, municipalities, landscape architects and contractors. Troche will also be responsible for initiating sales and marketing programs, new product introductions, education and training.
Penn State University Stuckeman School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture's A.E. Bye Landscape Architecture Archives Research Fellow 2013 will be awarded to Richard Hindle, landscape architect. The review committee reported that Hindle's proposal was the most outstanding. His plan to study Bye's approach to plants "?u from his inspiration by Roberto Burle-Marx, to his adaptations of native plants of the NE U.S. for design "?u would yield results of great interest to students and practitioners of landscape architecture.
At Environmental Connection 2013 in San Diego, the International Erosion Control Association Board of Directors elected its officers. The board of directors re-elected Phil Handley, REM, CPESC, CESSWI as president; Brock Peters, CISEC as administrative vice president; Charlie Riling Jr., TRETCNO, ABI, CESSWI as technical vice president; and Julie Etra, CPESC, MS as international vice president. Also elected are Craig Benson as marketing vice president; Beth Chesson, CPESC, CPSWQ as secretary; and Mike Chase, CPESC, CPSWQ, CESSWI as treasurer. Other board of directors members include Ron Faucher, CPESC and Gustavo Salerno, CPESC. IECA Region One's Board of Directors is the governing body of the association. It consists of nine members serving three-year terms with three directors being elected each year. It is the policy of IECA to maintain a balanced distribution of professional affiliations on the board. The non-profit organization devoted to serving as the premier global resource for the prevention and control of erosion and sediment related problems.
Consilium Design promoted Gabriel Kruse, master of landscape architecture from Virginia Tech, to a full time position. He has become an instrumental associate on the firm. His national and international design and construction management skills complement team members.
SmithGroupJJR, one of the nation's largest architecture, engineering and planning firms, has hired senior landscape architect and planner Mark Soden, RLA, AICP, to lead its campus, community and waterfront studio at its Phoenix office. Soden joins from his own firm, Soden Planning + Design pllc, a landscape architecture, land planning and urban design firm in Scottsdale, Ariz. Prior to that, he was a senior planner for the Salt River-Pima-Maricopa Indian Community in its department of community development.
iZone Imaging selected Grady Brown as its new president. Brown will take this leadership role and will work closely with the senior management team to achieve continued growth and expansion of the company's custom high pressure laminate products in their core markets as well as establishing new vertical markets. For more than 25 years, Brown has been managing the design, planning, fabrication and installation of major architectural signage, branding and exhibit projects for prominent clients across a wide range of industries.
RNL announced election of Brad Buchanan, FAIA, leader of the firm's commercial market and Andrew Irvine, AAILA, LEED AP, leader of the firm's urban design market, to the firm's board of directors. Buchanan is a nationally known expert in design-led, single-source project delivery. With more than 30 years of experience, he focuses on the commercial market, specifically multi-family and mixed-use. Irvine, a principal and leader of RNL's urban design/landscape architecture studio, has more than 25 years of experience in the industry. RNL is a global, full-service design firm specializing in sustainable, integrated design.
