The Los Angles County Department of Water and Power recently began offering free programs and rebates to encourage water efficiency in anticipation of a dry summer.
While several household items are among the solutions promoted, landscape items include weather-based sprinkler controllers (earning up to $150 in rebates), rotary sprinkler nozzles (a $4 rebate each), artificial grass and synthetic turf (receiving $.30/ square foot, equaling $150 for 500 square feet) and drip irrigation (getting a $50 rebate).
Combining these programs with possible water rationing, its associated charges for excessive water use and the overall long-term cost savings of a more efficient irrigation system may be an effective sales tool for landscape contractors to up business.
For more information, visit dpw.lacounty.gov/wwd/web/rebates.cfm.
Potential customers can arrange a free onsite water survey for a home or business by calling (888) 828-8602 or emailing watersurveys@niagaraconservation.com.. More information on this specific program can be found at www.ladpw.org/wwd/web/docs/water%20survey.pdf.
The Association of Synthetic Grass Installers (ASGi) offers information on products meeting or exceeding lead safety standards at www.Get-The-Lead-Out.Org.
