July is Park and Recreation Month
NRPA Celebrates Superhero-Style

NRPA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing park, recreation and conservation efforts, is once again honoring Park and Recreation Month in July.

July 2016 marks the 31st annual Park and Recreation Month celebration. This year, the National Recreation and Park Association is celebrating park and recreation superheroes and the super powers people can gain from their local parks and rec departments: get fit, learn new abilities, and make super new friends.

Park and rec professionals who want to promote Park and Recreation Month can download a toolkit from NRPA, including a fact sheet, media advisories, press release and editorial article templates, a printable blank calendar, logos and a social media guide.

New this year, NRPA has created a comic book starring Captain Community, the Green Guardian and the Fit Twins to encourage kids to be active in parks and recreation this summer.

NRPA asks that you use #SuperJuly when sharing a post about your Park and Recreation Month event on social media. Selfies following a weekly theme that are posted to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with #SuperParkSelfie are eligible to win a $500 Amazon gift card.
