IFLA Announces First Project Awards Program

Global Landscape Architecture Awards 2026

The GLA Awards will recognize landscape architecture work from around the world in 20 different categories.

The International Federation of Landscape Architects has announced that, in 2026, the organization will host its first Global Landscape Architecture (GLA) Awards program featuring 20 design categories open to "landscape architecture practices, individual landscape architects, and multi-disciplinary teams where landscape architecture leadership is evident."

The categories will be (in alphabetical order): Age-Friendly Communities and Landscapes; Children and Youth; Climate Action; Desertification and Sustainable Landscape Management; Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience; Diversity, Equity, and Social Justice; Energy-Efficient Design; Food Systems and Agriculture; Heritage; Indigenous Knowledge; International Landscape Convention; Landscapes for Cities, Settlements, and Territories; Migration and Inclusive Communities; Nature Conservation and Biodiversity; Sustainable Development Goals in Landscape Architecture; Technology and Innovation; Urban Health and Well-Being; Water Security and Management; Young Landscape Architects and Emerging Professionals; International Collaboration and Cross-Cultural Exchange.

With further submission details forthcoming, the IFLA shared on Instagram that the Early Bird Deadline will be on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, the Standard Deadline on Friday, May 15, 2026, and a Final Deadline with applicable late fees on Monday, June 1, 2026. The winners will be honored at the IFLA World Congress Gala Dinner in Hong Kong on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
