The IAEF sponsored its sixth annual essay contest for students interested in pursing careers in the irrigation industry. Three winners and their instructors received all-expense-paid trips to Irrigation Show 2008, which was held in Anaheim, Calif.

  • Daniel Ballard, North Metro Technical College, Acworth, GA
  • Greg Steele, California Polytechnic School, Pomona, CA
  • Bobby Vick, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC

The students were asked to create a video or write an essay about why they are interested in the irrigation industry and what they hoped to learn by attending the show. The Foundation selected three winners; one from the agriculture industry and two from the turf/landscape/golf industry segment. The Foundation also awarded a trip to the three winners of the PLANET Student Career Days irrigation competitions, which were co-sponsored by the IAEF. The event was held in Atlanta, Ga., March 26-29, 2008.

  • Conrad Liles, Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, TX
