Statistics Driving The Move Outdoors
?EUR??,,????'?????<??????? 80 percent of those who have purchased a home in the last three years (or plan to in the next three) named both a rear patio and front porch as ?EUR??,,????'?????<?must haves?EUR??,,????'?????<? for a house. ?EUR??,,????'?????<??????? Houses are getting smaller. The average size of a new home in 2009 was 215 square feet smaller than at the start of 2007. Sprawling mansions are slipping out of fashion, giving way to smaller suburban homes, lofts, cottages and space-efficient ranch styles. ?EUR??,,????'?????<??????? Empty nesters and retirees are downsizing to reduce maintenance. This demographic represents the largest population bubble, thus the most potential business now and into the next decade. ?EUR??,,????'?????<??????? ''Recession thinking'' and tightened lending have influenced the size of homes. These economic and demographic realities are enhancing the desire for more livable space outdoors.
