The University of Wisconsin-Madison department of engineering professional development is offering a new national short course: ?EUR??,,????'??Geosynthetics: Current Practices in Design and Construction,?EUR??,,????'?? April 26-27 at the Pyle Center in Madison Wis. This course introduces the use, selection, and installation of geosynthetic products in nine basic areas of application, with modules on use, function, product selection, installation and performance. There will be many opportunities to interact with the instructors and a comprehensive set of course notes and list of references are included. Topics include: types, manufacture and testing of geosynthetics; soil stabilization/separation, unpaved roads and railroads; pavement maintenance with geosynthetics; embankments on soft soil and use of lightweight fills; erosion and sediment control; review of participants?EUR??,,????'??? written questions and specific projects; subsurface drainage, filters, edge and strip drains; pond liners and landfills; reinforcing steep slopes and retaining walls; foundation support; and geosynthetic specifications and details.
