Foreclosed Homes Get Yard Care

Fannie Mae spends tens of millions of dollars a year just on landscape maintenance for the more than 150,000 foreclosed properties on its books. Landscape maintenance companies are finding steady working mowing Fannie Mae-owned foreclosed homes every two weeks or so to keep up the curb appeal.

Fannie Mae officials won't say how many lawns it's paying to maintain, but if only half of the homes have lawns, a conservative estimate, that's still more than 75,000 lawns. That's a lot of work opportunity for landscape maintenance professionals.
