Donald L. Sparks, Ph.D.

University of Delaware advisor, teacher, and scientist, Donald L. Sparks, Ph.D., will be celebrated for his tremendous career in a legacy celebration on June 7th at the Tower at STAR. Professor Sparks served as the Unidel S. Hallock du Pont Chair, Francis Alison Professor, professor of Plant and Soil Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and as the founding director of the Delaware Environmental Institute.


The University of Delaware will also recognize four people for their personal and professional achievements with honorary degrees at the University's Commencement ceremony on May 25. Awardees include Professor Sparks, NFL quarterback and Super Bowl MVP, Joe Flacco, the Hon. Tamika R. Montgomery-Reeves, the first African American person from Delaware to serve as judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and KR Sridhar, founder, chairman and CEO of Bloom Energy.
