This money comes from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and will go to federal firefighters as well as a variety of other things that are pointed towards wildfire prevention and control.

The Deputy Secretary of the Interior, Tommy Beaudreau, has announced $228 million in investment towards wildland fire management in 2023 from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. According to the Department of the Interior (DOI), this money will go to increasing federal firefighters' pay, updating training opportunities, and increasing funding for climate change and fire management research.

Over five years, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is investing $1.5 billion to improve firefighter pay and make communities that are threatened by wildfires more resilient. In 2022, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law supported wildland fire management with a $180 million investment bringing the current total invested to $408 million. This goes towards the DOI's Five Year Monitoring, Maintenance, and Treatment Plane that establishes a roadmap for addressing wildfire risk and preparing ecosystems across the country for wildfire.
“In Colorado and across the West, communities are feeling the effects of the climate crisis in the form of worsening drought and severe wildland fires. With funding from President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Interior Department is bringing much-needed support to increase the resilience of lands facing the threat of wildland fires and better support federal wildland firefighters,” said Deputy Secretary Beaudreau. “These resources are vital to prevent future fires, rehabilitate burned areas and properly equip our brave firefighters on the frontlines.”
