CSU San Bernardino Recognized as a Tree Campus USA
One of 300 Campuses That Have Been Inducted

The Arbor Day Foundation recently recognized California State University San Bernardino (CSUSB) as a Tree Campus USA. During the presentation, the foundation cited the university's dedication and work regarding the effective management of trees on campus while working alongside the local community.

The CSUSB website states that there are over 3,500 trees on the campus and the primary species are sycamore, alder, pine and eucalyptus. The university's Facilities Planning and Management department is responsible for the maintenance and operations of campus buildings and grounds as well as landscaping turf and the trees.

Started in 2008, Tree Campus USA recognizes 2 to 4 year colleges and universities from around the country that meet all of the program's five standards.

The five standards for recognition are:
• Evidence of a Campus Tree Care Plan;
• Verification of dedicated annual expenditures of the Campus Tree Plan;
• Involvement in an Arbor Day Observance;
• Institute a service learning project aimed at involving the student body;
• And, establish a Campus Tree Advisory Committee.
CSUSB now joins more than 300 colleges that have been recognized for their tree care maintenance; a complete list of all the schools that have been recognized can be seen HERE.
