Cotton Plaza, Macon, Georgia

Submission by Wimberly Treadwell
by Staff

The Cotton Plaza project in Macon, Georgia was designed by Wimberly Treadwell and Laurie Fickling. Both women are landscape architects practicing in Macon. The project was envisioned as an element of a Master Plan - Macon Action Plan - MAP the established an actionable plan for the redevelopment of the urban core in Macon. The Plaza was designed as a community space for all to enjoy. The project became a hardscape plaza because of the functionality of hardscape and not lawn. Macon's Urban core was lacking hardscape space for gathering.
